Kripalu Yoga is often named ”Meditation in Motion,” which is to say that with conscious breathing and focused awareness, you create a connection to yourself. Kripalu Yoga develops the body, mind and spirit in a compassionate and non-judgmental way. The combination of total self-acceptance, with a willingness to open into untapped places within yourself, brings you an opportunity to grow and learn. In a typical session, which can include meditation, warm-ups, yoga postures and relaxation, we explore the concept of “Yoga Off the Mat.” This means that what shows up on the yoga mat often mirrors patterns in our daily lives. Those insights gained through the wisdom of the body, empower us to transform and grow.

Meditation is a practice that is as ancient as time. Most spiritual practices have a connection to meditation in some form. Meditation has become increasingly used and accepted in the medical setting as a method to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and provide a sense of control. The NIH National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine reports that regular meditation can reduce chronic pain, anxiety, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood cortisol levels that were brought on by stress.
